Let's get into statistics first to grasp its massiveness.

120M tall. Weighs 4,000 tons.
Length of an eye = 2.5M.
Length of an index finger=7M.
Length of the face=20M.

Ushiku Budda, built in 1993, was the tallest budda in the world (as a bronze-made structure, it still is.) -- until 2008, when Burma built the one which exceeds Ushiku Budda by 9m -- 129m.

Still, Ushiku budda is worth visiting for its entertaining contents.

A visitor can walk inside and take an elevator to the shoulder level. What you find -- a museum.

Also, for some reason, there is a tiny zoo located beneath the budda, accomodating cute squirrls, rabits, etc.

HOW TO GET TO USHIKU BUDDA
Take JR Joban Line from Ueno to Ushiku Station.
20 Minutes bus ride from the station.
